In 2010 my father Howard Otto Jensen was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer at the age of 66. He underwent different treatments and sought out the best medicine he could find. At the time, my brother Luke and I participated in Mike Milken’s Prostate Cancer Foundation Tennis Fundraisers. I didn’t give it much thought and I really didn’t know how serious it was to be diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. At the age of 71 my Dad’s conditioned worsened; he began a two year chemo therapy treatment among other things and that is when it really hit me. During his treatment I would drive four hours to the best cancer treatment center in the state of Michigan with my Dad and what I have experienced through all of this has changed my life and view on Cancer forever. That’s when it dawned on me to reach out to Mike Milken and ask for help. The Prostate Cancer Foundation isn’t only seeking to promote awareness and help, it’s main priority is to find a cure for the disease.
My dad is still fighting the battle and after 10 years of treatments and procedures he’s far from out of the woods. I have discovered that Cancer affects everything and everybody. Prostate cancer stripped my Dad of everything that was great about his life. My dad is my hero and he will always be...I owe him everything that is good about me and I’m sure that I’m not alone. I’m helping the Prostate Cancer Foundation raise funds to find and discover the science that will find the cure. That’s the key for me. The cure! Hopefully with your support there will be an end to this madness and there will no longer be broken hearts at the hand of Prostate Cancer.

Many important discoveries in the fight against prostate cancer since 1993 resulted from PCF funding or coordination—including the development of new medications, gene therapy approaches and the development of vaccines that may soon work with the body’s immune system to kill prostate cancer cells.
Thanks to these and other victories, the U.S. death rate from prostate cancer has dropped nearly 40% from what was once projected. But much more work remains—and we must intensify our efforts now.
